The need for balance and integration
One of the many things I have discovered in my personal journey is the realization that both feminine and masculine energy exist in all of us and how its imbalance is the root cause of many problems. This imbalance has been passed down from generation to generation and it is a worldwide phenomenon. We can observe it in ourselves, our families, cultures, companies, governments and so on.
Growing up many of us have learned that we need to toughen up, when a child falls we say ¨ hey you’re a tough kid, so you’re ok.¨, or when a woman at the work place cries we may hear ¨She is so sensitive¨, just some examples of how beliefs have been shaping us as a society, and unconsciously feeding our masculine energy more than our feminine.
Masculine & Feminine Energy in balance
Masculine energy is in relation to action, moving towards a direction, making decisions, reaching results, using our rational side, while feminine energy is more flowing, flexible, reflexive and nurturing. Both energies extremely important and when in balance one encourages the other, permitting a harmonic integration where both coexist and permit us to reach a healthy living where in general terms both rationality and flexibility support each other.
Given that we have inherited more of a patriarchal way of living, the masculine energy has been driven to an extreme where we may become overly aggressive, controlling and rigid, a culture where listening to others is simply not available. While an extreme feminine energy is also unhealthy causing excessive passiveness, the risk of having no direction at all. Both extremes create instability and high costs for our overall living, relationships, workplace.
Today having lived a pandemic we have learned more than ever the need for reflection, flexibility while also making decisions and taking risks.
I invite you to observe your masculine and feminine energy.
Do you identify more with the masculine or feminine energy?
Which are you needing to explore and expand more in?
Do you feel both are balanced and integrated?
